      Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) finally made corrections in the previous advertisement of 2012-13 for the recruitment of the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in Odisha Secretariat & Governor’s Secretariat. More than two years passed those who earlier applied for the post of ASO but till now the exam date is not fixed, now again OPSC invited applications from new candidates after revising the categorical reservations as mentioned in the previous advertisement.

    After complaint of the general category candidates  that more than 76% are reservations for SEBC,SC & ST  in the advertisement for ASO of Odisha Secretariat, now it is revised & reservation Quota reduced to 50% for SEBC,SC,ST & 50% for general candidates. Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) is going to conduct examination of Assistant Section Officers(ASO) of Governor’s Secretariat & State Secretariat. There were various controversies regarding the percentage of reservation for various categories for the post of Assistant Section Officer Odisha. There were not any recruitment in Odisha secretariat Service (OSS) since 1996 hence its difficult manage all the day to day works of the State’s top office. That’s why OPSC Orissa decided to recruit ASO’s in order to run the office in a smooth manner.

As per a source the strength of Assistant Section officer in Secretariat is 1923 & 502 Section officers. But most of the posts are vacant so it’s difficult to manage the entire work load by the rest of Section Officers & Asst Section officers.

Assistant Section Officer in (Group-C) of Odisha Governor’s secretariat Service and Odisha Secretariat Service under Home Department in the scale of pay of Rs.9300-34800/- carrying Grade Pay of Rs.4200/- with usual Dearness and other Allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time. The posts are permanent. You will get Approximately Rs.30000 in 1st month salary (present DA 100% till now + HRA 20%)

OPSC ASST. SECTION OFFICER (ASO) exam date fixed tentatively to be held on 09.02.2014 & 10.02.2014 but now POSTPONED due to unavoidable circumstances until further orders & new notification came on 28.08.2014 by reducing the reservation percentage of various categories & new candidates also invited to apply for the post.
